Laerdal Pocket Mask is one of the most widely used ventilation masks for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and is standard equipment in ambulance bags, military first aid kits and workplaces with CPR (HLR)-trained staff.

The face mask replaces mouth-to-mouth ventilation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to L-ABCDE. The transparent mask makes it possible to see the individual's lips and check for any vomit during ventilation. The silicone rim adapts to different face shapes and provides a tighter seal than older models made from PVC. The one-way valve prevents exhaled air from the individual receiving care from reaching the rescuer and can be supplemented with an oxygen inlet (sold separately) for higher oxygen ventilation pressure in pre-hospital situations.

The plastic case offers a practical advantage over textile or cardboard packaging — the mask is stored dry and hygienically, and the case can withstand being packed in a backpack or storage box without the mask becoming deformed.
