Ambu SPUR II is a disposable adult resuscitator used for manual ventilation in emergencies — developed for pre-hospital settings and emergency departments where reliability and rapid response are essential.

The 40 cm H₂O pressure-limiting valve automatically releases excess pressure if the user compresses the bag too forcefully. This protects the individual from barotrauma and pneumothorax — a complication that can occur during aggressive manual ventilation at excessive pressures. The valve is included as standard, unlike many cheaper resuscitators that lack pressure limitation entirely.

The oxygen reservoir makes it possible to deliver oxygen with an FiO₂ of nearly 100 percent at an oxygen flow rate of 15 litres per minute. Without a reservoir, inhaled air mixes with room air and FiO₂ falls to approximately 40–50 percent. In severe hypoxia — such as during cardiac arrest or respiratory failure — the difference between 50 and 100 percent oxygen can be crucial for tissue oxygenation.
