The valve has a slim design that provides an unobstructed view of the face mask and the individual being treated — essential when the user needs to check the mask seal or observe chest rise while ventilation is in progress. The valve design provides minimal breathing resistance and a rapid response, making it possible to feel and adjust ventilation volume and airway resistance without delay. The bag is made from a soft and flexible material that does not require significant hand strength, reducing the risk of muscle fatigue during ongoing HLR.

The built-in hand grip is designed to fit different hand sizes and reduces the need for a forceful grip. SPUR II weighs significantly less than reusable silicone resuscitators — an advantage during longer responses or when personnel need to carry equipment during transport. The oxygen reservoir can be filled while ventilation is in progress and increases FiO₂ from 21 percent (room air) to as much as 50–60 percent, depending on the gas flow.

Why choose Ambu SPUR II rather than a reusable resuscitator?
