Sharpie, manufactured by the American company Sanford, is a leading permanent marker. It adheres to almost all types of surfaces and uses alcohol-based ink, with a tip made from conical nylon fibre that produces a line approximately 1 mm wide. The first Sharpie pen made its debut in 1964 and has since become one of the USA's best-loved markers. More than 200 million Sharpies have been sold worldwide, clearly demonstrating its widespread popularity.
